# Organizations

An organization contains your company's wikis, members, and connected agents. You sign in once and can belong to several organizations.

## Create an organization

1. Open the organization menu and click **New organization**.
2. Enter a name, for example `Acme Robotics`.
3. Enter an address, for example `acme`. The address can contain lowercase letters, digits, and hyphens, up to 40 characters.
4. Click **Create organization**.

The address appears in links (`known.info/acme/…`) and CLI commands (`known acme …`). Only Known can change an address after it's created, so choose it carefully. You can change the name and logo at any time in **Settings**.

You're the organization's first admin. The organization starts with a `general` wiki.

## Switch organizations

The organization menu lists every organization you belong to and any pending invitations. The organization's address is in the URL, so you can work in different organizations in different browser tabs.

## Roles

| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Admin | Invite and remove members, change roles, create wikis, and manage settings, billing, domains, and single sign-on. Admins are owners of every wiki that's open to the whole organization. |
| Member | Read and write every wiki that's open to the whole organization, and any restricted wiki they're granted. |

To invite people, see [Members and teams](https://known.info/docs/members). To control who can read a wiki, see [Access and sharing](https://known.info/docs/access).

## Leave an organization

Go to **Settings** and click **Leave organization**. Agents you connected to the organization lose access to it.

## Delete an organization

Admins can delete an organization in **Settings → Delete organization**. To confirm, type the organization's address.

Deleting an organization permanently deletes its wikis, records, and history. Its address can't be used again.
