# Use Known in ChatGPT

## Before you start

- A Known account in the organization you want ChatGPT to use.
- A ChatGPT plan that allows custom apps. In a workspace, an admin may need to allow them first.

## Add Known

1. In ChatGPT, open **Settings → Apps → Advanced settings** and turn on **Developer mode**.
2. Back in **Apps**, select **Create**.
3. Name it `Known`, paste the address, and choose **OAuth** for authentication:

   ```
   https://api.known.info/mcp
   ```

4. Select **Create**. Known opens in your browser: sign in, choose the organizations ChatGPT may use, confirm it's you, and select **Allow**.

## Check the connection

Start a **new chat**, turn on **Known** from the **+** menu, and ask:

```
Which wikis can you see in Known?
```

ChatGPT lists your organization's wikis. Ask it to read a page you know, and it answers with a link to that page in Known.

## Troubleshooting

- **ChatGPT reports a validation error on a tool.** A chat keeps the tools it started with. Refresh Known in **Settings → Apps**, then start a new chat.
- **ChatGPT can't see a wiki you expected.** It can only use the organizations you selected. To change them, go to **Settings → Connections** in Known.
